CITI® PAYMENT SAFEGUARD PROGRAM SUMMARY

Citi Payment Safeguard is an optional program. In return for a monthly fee
Citibank will defer or credit certain amounts on your Citibank credit card account.

What Are the Program Benefits?

Life Events: Two credits. The first credit is based on the minimum payment due shown on your statement for the billing period in which the claim is approved. The second is based on the minimum payment due for the next billing period. Job Loss/Short Term-Disability: A deferral of your account for up to 24 billing periods. Emergency Room Care: One credit based on the minimum payment due shown on your statement for the billing period in which the emergency room care occurred. Hospitalization: One credit based on the minimum payment due shown on your statement for the billing period in which the hospitalization began. Payment Credit: One credit based on the minimum payment due shown on your statement for the billing period in which the claim is approved. Auto/Home/Renters Deductible Cancels on the account either the balance or the amount of the deductible whichever is less, up to $500, Family Leave: A deferral of your account for up to 3 billing periods. Long Term Disability /Death: Cancels the new balance (up to $10,000) shown on your billing statement for the billing period in which the short term disability began or the death occurred. How Am I Eligible?

You are eligible to enroll in Citi Payment Safeguard if your account is considered to be in good standing by Citibank and you are otherwise eligible to be offered Citi Payment Safeguard. Citi Payment Safeguard protects your account, if you, the card member, or any person in your household who is the highest wage earner, experiences any of these covered events. You must be enrolled in Payment Safeguard (1) on the date of the covered event (2) when you notify us of the event (not required for death and long term disability) and (3) at the time the benefit is approved (not required for death and long term disability). Life events: Person marries or divorces, gives birth to or adopts a child, purchases or moves to a new home, enters an accredited college or graduate school for the first time or reaches a decade birthday ( 30, 40, 50, etc. Job Loss: Person (1) must lose all employment income for 30 days in a row; (2) have lost a job because of layoff, dismissal or general strike, (3) have worked at least 30 hours per week (15 hours in case of full time student) for the 90 days before the job loss; (3) qualify for state or federal unemployment benefits; and (4) register for work at a recognized employment agency within 30 consecutive days after the job loss and remain registered. If self employed, person must lose all employment income for 30 days in a row. Emergency Room Care: Person receives medical treatment in a hospital emergency room. Hospitalization: Person is admitted to a licensed hospital for at least one night. Payment Credit: Person incurs at least $25 in educational, medical, household, transportation or tax-related expenses after being enrolled in Payment Safeguard for 90 days. Auto/Homeowner/Renter Deductible: You pay a deductible on your auto, home or renter's insurance. Family Leave: Person has approved absence from full-time employment for the birth or adoption of a child or chronic illness of a family member. Short Term Disability: Person (1) cannot perform his or her normal duties for at least 30 days in a row because of sickness or injury and is (2) under a doctor's care while the disability continues. Long Term Disability: Person cannot perform his or her normal duties because of sickness or injury. (2) person must qualify for 24 billing periods (in a row) of short-term disability benefits. Death: Death of the person is covered. National Disaster: Person must be directly affected by a declared federal disaster within the United States, U.S. Virgin Islands, or Puerto Rico. A direct impact means that the Person must (1) live in a declared federal disaster area and (2) incur more than $500 in damages or miss at least 5 consecutive days of work because of the disaster.

If we approve your claim for a deferral benefit, you will not be able to use your account, but certain automatic or prearranged charges may still post to the account. You are responsible for arranging to pay any prearranged charges (such as a gym membership) that do not otherwise post to your account.

 

While your account is deferred, interest charges and certain monthly fees will not accrue on your account, and you are not required to make any payment(s) due on your account, even for those automatic or pre arranged charges that post to your account. If you are past due prior to the Deferral, we will report you to the credit bureaus as past due until you make payments and become current.

 

Credit Claims

 

If we approve your claim for a credit benefit, you can continue to use your account for purchases but not cash advances. You are responsible for any amounts you owe us after we post the credit. Your account remains subject to the Card Agreement.

 

You are eligible for only one benefit per billing period.

 

Benefit Specific Limitations and Exclusions:

You will not be approved for benefits if the event is a result of the following.

 

Life Events: Only one life event benefit may be approved per calendar year. Job Loss: If you voluntarily forfeited employment income, resigned, retired you will not receive Job Loss benefits. You are not eligible for continuing job loss benefits if you become disabled after a job loss activation approval. Emergency Room Care: You cannot receive an emergency room care benefit and a hospitalization benefit for that same billing period. Payment Credit: There is a 90 day waiting period after enrollment; only one payment credit per calendar year. Auto/Home/Renter Deductible: The credit cannot be more than $500 and you may be approved for only one auto/home/renter deductible benefit per calendar year. Family Leave: If the person is self-employed, employed by a family member, retires or is a member of one of the United States Military branches, he or she will not be eligible for family leave benefits. Long Term Disability: The person may only obtain long-term disability benefits only once during the time he or she is enrolled in Payment Safeguard.

How Much Does it Cost?

We charge a fee for Payment Safeguard each billing period. This fee is 94¢ per $100 of the new balance. We use the new balance shown on your statement from the prior billing period (after we subtract the Payment Safeguard fee from it). You will be charged a fee even if you pay your balance in full each month. The fee for the first billing period is pro-rated. Any fees billed while benefits are activated will be refunded. If you cancel in the first 75 days from the date you purchased and enrolled in Payment Safeguard, you will receive a refund of any fees billed.
